Marc Burns Gets Track Action Underway For Auburn Olympians

BEIJING, China - Former Auburn Tiger Marc Burns became the first of the 12 former members of the Auburn track and field team to take part in the Olympic Games, participating in the opening rounds of the 100 meters Friday. Burns, running for Trinidad and Tobago, finished second in the ninth heat of the opening round of the 100 meters, posting a time of 10.46 seconds to advance to the quarterfinal round. His time tied for 38th best overall in the opening round, which featured 10 heats. He excelled in the quarterfinals, racing to a time of 10.05 seconds to win his heat and move on to the semifinals. His quarterfinal time ranked sixth best in the field. Burns will compete in the semifinals of the 100 meters Saturday night in Beijing, which begin at 7:05 a.m. CT.
