LONDON – Former Auburn sprinters Kerron Stewart and Sheniqua Ferguson both came up short in their attempts to make the finals of the 100 meters at the Olympic Games on Saturday.

Stewart, who competes for Jamaica, is the defending silver medalist in the 100 meters. She finished fourth in the third heat in 11.04 seconds. Stewart’s time was the fastest to not make the finals and was a full tenth off her previous season best of 10.94.

In the second heat, the Bahamian Ferguson placed seventh in 11.32 seconds. The time was three tenths faster than her mark on Friday.

The duo are both expected to compete in the 4x100-meter for their respective countries on Thursday. Ferguson is also tentatively scheduled to run in the 200 meters beginning on Monday.

Action continues for Auburn on Saturday with former Tiger and 2007 World Champion Donald Thomas competing in the qualifying round of the men’s high jump.
