Jager Livingston Named Third Team Academic All-American

AUBURN - Auburn senior Jager Livingston has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's Track and Field and Cross Country Third Team, it was announced Tuesday.

Livingston, a native of Scottsboro, Ala., graduated from Auburn in May with a degree in chemical engineering and a 3.83 grade-point average. He was named Auburn's Male Student-Athlete of the Year at the Tiger Torch Banquet in April and to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll in each of the past three years. He was named the Department of Chemical Engineering's Outstanding Student of the Year in 2009, and earned the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's President's Award in 2010.

Livingston, who has twice been named to the Academic All-District first team, recently concluded his collegiate career on Auburn's track and field team by placing third in the decathlon at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a personal best 7,160 points. He was seventh in the heptathlon at the 2010 SEC Indoor Championships with 4,887 points.

Livingston is also a two-time member of the SEC's Community Service team and is a member of multiple national honor societies.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America teams, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their teams, and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
