Jager Livingston And Scott Novack Earn Academic All-District First Team Honors

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn juniors Jager Livingston and Scott Novack were named Thursday to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Men's Track and Field/Cross Country First Team. As members of the all-district first team, Livingston and Novack are now eligible for the national ballot. In addition, graduate student Sabrina Fischer and sophomore Holly Knight were named to the women's third team. Livingston, a native of Scottsboro, Ala., owns a 3.80 grade-point average in Chemical Engineering. He finished fourth in the decathlon at the 2009 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships with a personal-best score of 6,628 points, closing the competition by winning the 1500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:28.49. Livingston finished second in the decathlon at the Alabama Relays with a 6,463 points, and was eighth in the heptathlon at the 2009 SEC Indoor Championships. He has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and is an Academic Top Tiger at Auburn. He was also named to the SEC Track and Field Community Service Team.
During the indoor season, Novack helped Auburn's distance medley relay team finish third at the 2009 SEC Indoor Championships. He also competed for Auburn's cross country team that finished fifth nationally at the 2008 NCAA meet. He has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and is an Academic Top Tiger at Auburn. Knight, a native of Devon, England, owns a 3.85 grade-point average in psychology. She earned All-American honors during the cross country season, finishing 11th at the 2008 NCAA Championships. She also became Auburn's first woman to win the NCAA South Region title, and was second at the 2008 SEC Championships. Fischer, a native of Magdeburg, Germany, owns a 4.00 grade-point average in graduate school, working on a sociology degree, and had a 3.38 GPA as an undergrad. She reached the finals of the 1500 meters at the 2009 SEC Outdoor Championships with the 10th-best time in school history (4:28.83), and was 21st at the 2008 SEC Cross Country Championships. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their teams, and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district. The District IV team is complied of athletes in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
