AUBURN – Auburn track and field senior distance runner Joby Peake was named a member of the Capital One Academic All-District team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
“Joby has been the team captain for cross country for the last two years,” Auburn cross country/distance coach Mark Carroll said. “He set a fabulous example in his pursuit of both athletic and academic endeavors. As part of being captain, he was charged with setting a good example for a very young team. He went over and above in displaying his commitment to both facets. I’m happy for Joby to be recognized in this way as his collegiate career comes to a close.”
Peake graduated from Auburn Summa Cum Laude in May 2012 with a degree in Economics – his second undergraduate degree. He previously earned a degree in Actuarial Sciences in May 2011.
A native of Macon, Ga., Peake was a member of Auburn’s 2008 NCAA South Region Cross Country runner-up squad. He finished sixth at this year’s SEC Outdoor Championships in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a new personal-best time of 9:12.79.
