BIRMINGHAM – Auburn freshman thrower Daina Levy was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her school-record performance at the War Eagle Invitational, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Levy established a new Auburn overall record in the women’s hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 197 feet, 11 inches (60.32m) on Friday night as she finished in second place overall. She now owns two of the top four and four of the top 10 performances all-time in Auburn history.

Her mark eclipses the previous Auburn record of 196-11 set by Valentina Srsa in 2008.

The mark of 197-11 ranks third in the SEC and is the top underclassman mark with two juniors in front of the Jamaican junior record holder. Additionally, the mark ranks her in the top 30 nationally.
