AUBURN – No. 7/19 Auburn track and field hosts the War Eagle Invitational, its second home outdoor meet of the season, this weekend at Hutsell-Rosen Track.
“We are really looking forward to being at home his weekend,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “Its always good to sleep in your own bed and compete on your home track. This meet will be really nice, because it’s not as big. This weekend will be more low key and we will be able to get a lot done individually. It’s a big weekend with A Day, so we are looking forward to a good crowd with great weather. We are down to crunch time, so it’s time to start peaking and get everyone ready go for SECs which is right around the corner.”
The Tigers will welcome 12 teams to The Plains including SEC rival Georgia. Additionally, several top professionals are expected to compete including three-time Olympic medalist Kerron Stewart, World Champion Donald Thomas and former NCAA champions Joanna Atkins and Sheniqua Ferguson.
Action begins on Friday at 2 p.m. with the men’s hammer throw. Competition picks up on Saturday morning with the men’s pole vault at 11 a.m. and action on the track gets started with the women’s 4x100m relay at 1 p.m.
