Meet Notes | Bulldog Dec/Hept Results | Spec Towns Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – No. 7/17 Auburn track and field heads to Athens, Ga. beginning Thursday for the Bulldog Decathlon/Heptathlon and Spec Towns Invite at Spec Towns Track.

Competing teams include Auburn and the host Bulldogs as well as Alabama, Duke, Rhode Island, Troy, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Rutgers, Michigan State and Vanderbilt.

Auburn’s Parker Shearer will compete in his first collegiate decathlon on Thursday. He finished seventh in the heptathlon at the 2013 SEC Indoor Championships.

Action begins in the Spec Towns National Invitational on Friday with the triple jump at 1 p.m. CT and continues through the afternoon with the invitational 4x400m relay and hammer throw. Competition picks up on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. CT with the javelin and pole vault competitions.

Notable Auburn athletes expected to compete this weekend include Harry Adams, Keenan Brock and Marcus Rowland. Additionally, SEC women’s shot put leader Valentina Muzaric is expected to throw on Saturday.

The meet in Athens comes as the sandwich competition between Auburn’s two home meets. The Tigers will host the War Eagle Invitational at Hutsell-Rosen Track on April 19-20.
