AUBURN – Auburn track and field opens the 2013 outdoor season this weekend in three different locations – Austin, Texas, Atlanta, Ga. and Palo Alto, Calif.
“We are excited to open outdoors and we are looking forward to a great season,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “We are young in some areas, but have some great fire power in other events. I’m excited to see our team perform.”
The largest group of Auburn athletes will compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech. More than 40 Auburn athletes will compete in the two-day meet that begins on Friday.
A group of 12 athletes will travel to the Texas Relays, site of last season’s school record 4x100m run of 38.30 seconds. Distance runners Niklas Buhner, Griffin Jaworski and Samuel Mueller will each run at Stanford.
The Auburn men are ranked fifth in the USTFCCCA preseason computer rankings, while the women stand 21st.
