AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn men's and women's track and field teams will split up to compete in a variety of places across the country Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16. Members of the squads will be at meets in Fayetteville, Ark., Ames, Iowa, and Seattle, Wash., during the fourth indoor weekend of competition of the season for the Tigers.
A group of primarily sprinters and hurdlers will be in Fayetteville for the Tyson Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas. Several throwers will visit the Midwest for the Iowa State Classic, and a group of distance runners will head to the University of Washington for the Husky Classic (Saturday only).
The Tigers were successful last season at the Tyson Invitational, as several Tigers posted provisional qualifying marks. Among those who are still competing on this year's squad, Tracy Ann Rowe improved her qualifying times in the 60m and 200m, Jacob Dunkleberger improved his mark in the weight throw while finishing second to teammate Cory Martin, and Edis Elkasevic met the provisional mark in the men's shot put. Also, Kerron Stewart improved her automatic qualifying time in the 200m, while Donald Thomas tied his school indoor record in the high jump.
Auburn did not compete at the Iowa State Classic last season, but did compete at indoor meets in Ames each year from 2004-06.
So far this season the Tigers have recorded two automatic and five provisional marks. Seniors Ty Akins (60m hurdles) and Jacob Dunkleberger (weight throw) own the automatic marks, while seniors Reuben McCoy (400m) and Tracy Ann Rowe (60m), sophomore Eric Werskey (shot put) , freshman Joanna Atkins (400m), and Raevan Harris (high jump) have all posted provisional qualifying marks for Auburn.
