No. 9/25 Track and Field Splits Three Ways
Feb. 7, 2013
AUBURN – No. 9/25 Auburn track and field had originally intended to send athletes to four different meets this weekend, but will split to just three locations beginning on Friday.
The impending blizzard in Boston ended Auburn’s plans of heading north, so the Tigers will compete in Fayetteville, Ark. at the annual Tyson Invitational, in Blacksburg, Va. at the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet and in Birmingham at the Samford Invitational.
With the Tigers scheduled for an off weekend next, this will be the final competition for Auburn athletes prior to the 2013 SEC Indoor Championships from Feb. 22-24 in Fayetteville.
Auburn currently has seven performances that rank in the top 20 nationally. Sprinters Marcus Rowland and Harry Adams both own top times in the 60 and 200 meters. Rowland ranks fifth nationally in the 60m at 6.63 and 13th at 200m with his time of 21.03 seconds. Adams is 5th at 60m (6.64) and 14th at 200m (21.06).
Rowland and Adams rank 1-2 in the 60 and 6-7 in the 200 in the SEC.
Griffin Jaworski ranks 20th nationally at 5000 meters with his new personal-best mark of 14:20.18. Former SEC Champion Maya Pressley is ninth nationally at 6-0 in the women’s high jump and Stephen Saenz is eighth nationally in the shot put at 63 feet.
Action at all three meets begins on Friday. Live results will be available at the links above. For the latest on Auburn track and field, follow @AUTrack on Twitter.
