AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn junior sprinter Sheniqua Ferguson has been named the Southeastern Conference's Female Co-Runner of the Week for her performance at the Kentucky Invitational, the league office announced Tuesday.

Ferguson, a transfer from Southwest Mississippi JC competing in her first meet for Auburn, won the 60-meter dash, blazing to a time of 7.28 seconds in the finals. Her time is tied for the national lead at that distance this year, and ranks tied for fifth best in school history.

Ferguson was the 100-meter and 200-meter champion at the 2009 NJCAA Outdoor Championships before competing at the 2009 World Championships, where she advanced to the semifinals in the 200 meters and the quarterfinals in the 100 meters.

The Auburn men's and women's track and field teams will be off during the upcoming weekend before competing at the Clemson Games Jan. 29-30 in Clemson, S.C.
