NEW ORLEANS – The Auburn men are ranked 11th and the women 24th according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) preseason computer projections released on Tuesday.
The rankings are based largely on the top returners from each school and early performances from this season
“It is exciting to start the new season off with both the men and women ranked in the Top 25,” Auburn track and field head coach Ralph Spry said. “This lets us know that we are off to a good start. We know we’ve got good teams on both sides. If our athletes will keep putting the work in, we have a chance to have very good seasons from a national perspective.”
A nation-leading 13 SEC track and field teams are ranked In the USTFCCA Preseason Top 25. The next USTFCCCA rankings will be released on Jan. 22.
The Auburn men and women will open the 2013 season on Saturday at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
