April 14, 2012
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior sprinter Harry Adams recorded the second-fastest 200 meter time in the country so far in 2012, while also posting the second-best time in Auburn track and field history with his blazing run of 20.10 seconds on Saturday afternoon at the 2012 Hurricane Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.
“Overall, it was a pretty good day of competition down here in Miami,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “Harry provided a nice highlight for the team with his run in the 200. It was really windy and that played factor in several races, including Harry’s. We were really competitive today as a team. I’m glad that we accomplished a lot and got a few more qualified for regionals.”
Adams’ mark is the second-best non-wind aided time in the world in 2012 behind only Olympian Wallace Spearmon’s 19.95. His time is also the second-best time run in the NCAA thus far in 2012, behind only Florida State’s Maurice Mitchell who ran 20.08 on April 6 at the Florida Relays. Mitchell ran with a +3.4 wind at his back.
