    AUBURN - The Tiger Track Classic, hosted by the Auburn University track and field teams at Hutsell-Rosen Track, commenced Friday with the hammer and javelin competition. Auburn only had a handful of competitors on day one, and were led by senior Luke Gaines' third place 208-9 toss in the javelin which was a personal-best and tied for sixth in school history.

    Sophomore Lakin Spear participated in the javelin, and measured a distance of 116-08.to place eighth in the competition. On the men's side, sophomore Michael Dekich marked a 185-10 to place ninth, while redshirt-freshman Tyler Kennedy achieved a distance of 177-8.

    In the women's hammer, senior Valentina Srsa placed ninth with a distance of 163-2.

    Field events begin Saturday morning with the pole vault at 11 a.m., while running events begin at noon with the women's 4x100-meter dash. The meet is free and open to the public, and is scheduled to conclude at 5:45 p.m. with the men's 3000m.
