Auburn Divers Complete Winter Training Against FSU And LSU

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Auburn divers closed out their winter training session with an impressive showing in a platform-only meet against Florida State and Louisiana State in Orlando on Friday, Dec. 20.
AU sophomore Matt Bricker and junior Caesar Garcia finish 1-2 on the platform to pace the Tiger men. The bronze medallist from last season's NCAA's on the platform, Bricker scored a 587.35 while Garcia, who was an All-American on the platform in 2001, scored a 550.65. Freshman Chris Millican, in his first competition on the platform, scored a 305.40 to place seventh.
For the women, freshman Kelsey Patterson was AU's highest finisher. The Edmonton, Alberta, native scored a 408.15 to finish second while sophomore Rachel Korth was right behind her with a personal-best score of 373.10 to place third. Junior Ashley Rubenstein was fifth with a score of 353.75.
"I am really pleased with the way we worked during this training period," AU Diving Coach Jeff Shaffer said. "The entire group did an excellent job during the holiday training and this was an excellent ending to a very good training trip."
The divers will return to the boards on Jan. 2 when they travel to Athens, Ga., for the Georgia Diving Invitational.
