AUBURN, Ala. - With some of the nation’s top teams descending upon the James E. Martin Aquatics Center this weekend, the Auburn swimming and diving team hosts the Auburn Invitational to wrap up the fall portion of its schedule. The three-day meet begins on Friday at 9:30 a.m.

“We are excited about getting a chance to compete against top competition this weekend to wrap up our fall schedule,” Auburn head coach Brett Hawke said. “Georgia brings the defending women’s national championship team in, Alabama is a tough in-state, SEC foe to face and Florida State, a team we don’t normally get to compete against, will give us some tough races over the three-day competition.

The competition marks the first action for the undefeated Auburn women since competing at the Royals Opens in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 25. The Tiger men last competed at LSU on Nov. 2, posting a 151-87 victory on the road to earn their first SEC win of the season.

Both teams have spent the last three weeks prepping for the midseason meet. The added rest has provided extra training time in the pool and Hawke says his team’s focus over the past few weeks has been exceptional.

“This team has been focused on moving from a good team to a great team. Their focus in the pool during training and their willingness to improve over the last month has been exciting to see,” Hawke said. “Our captains and seniors have provided great leadership over the last several weeks.”

All four teams competing in this weekend’s meet are ranked in the top-25. Auburn comes into the weekend ranked 15th on the women’s side and 17th in the latest men’s poll.

Prelims will begin each morning at 9:30 a.m. with finals starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s finals will begin at 3 p.m. Live results will be available through AuburnTigers.com along with a live video stream of the three-day competition on Auburn All-Access.
