AUBURN - For her efforts last weekend against Tennessee, Auburn sophomore Ava Ohlgren has been named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week for the week of Nov. 7-13.
The Northville, Mich., native set a personal-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 54.34 in the 100 butterfly, a mark that ranks eighth all-time at Auburn. She also posted Auburn's first "A" cut of the season as she won the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.82.
Ohlgren wrapped up her individual events with another "B" cut time as she finished runner-up in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.46. She also helped Auburn to a pair of relay victories
She swam the butterfly on the winning 400 medley relay team, finishing with a "B" cut time of 3:42.50. She was also the leadoff on the winning 400 free relay team that finished with a NCAA provisional time of 3:20.59. Her leadoff split of 50.29 on the relay is also a "B" cut time for the 100 free.
Ohlgren helped the Tigers cruise to a 201-146 win over No. 12-ranked Tennessee. Auburn returns to action Friday with the "Iron Bowl" of swimming as the Tigers welcome Alabama to town for a 4 p.m. meet in the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.
