Sept. 26, 2013
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Auburn women’s swimming and diving team will open its 2013-14 season at Vanderbilt tomorrow starting at 4 p.m. at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tenn. Auburn is coming off an undefeated dual season a year ago and is facing the Commodores for the first time in a dual format since 1991.
The Auburn women rattled off seven dual wins last year, including five against SEC opponents. The last time the Tigers faced an opponent in dual format, they defeated a ranked Florida squad in Auburn by almost 20 points in their final tune-up before the SEC Championships last year.
The Orange and Blue will be returning three All-Americans from a year ago, including 14-time All-American and All-SEC first teamer Emily Bos along with NCAA 100 fly champion Olivia Scott. Last season, Bos competed in three events at the NCAA Championships (50 free, 100 free, 100 back) and swam a 22.35 in the 50 free, her best time of the year and eighth-best in Auburn history. Bos’ 100 back performance at nationals was one of the best of her career after she posted the fourth-fastest time in Auburn history with a 52.40 in prelims.
For Scott, she returns to the water for the first time since her national title-winning swim in the 100 fly. Her time of 51.64 in the event was the second-fastest time by a Tiger in school history and upped her All-American honor total to 11 for her Auburn career.
The meet on Friday is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow with the first event being the 400 medley relay. Full results can be found online on AuburnTigers.com, at the conclusion of the meet.
