Competition Concludes Saturday At Pan Pacific Championships

AUBURN, Ala. - Former Tigers Cesar Cielo and Eric Shanteau earn medals on the final day of competition at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships Saturday night held in Irvine, Calif., at the William Woollet Jr. Aquatics Center.

The Tigers were represented by three swimmers during the evening's session of the 50 free. Cielo earned silver in the event, touching the wall in 21.64. Gideon Louw, who just finished his senior season at Auburn, finished fifth in 22.08 and former Tiger George Bovell was 15th overall in 22.68.

Shanteau picked up his first medal of the meet, taking the bronze in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.13. Micah Lawrence, a junior from Pflugerville, Texas, swam in the consolation final of the 200 breast on the women's side of competition and won her heat, finishing ninth in 2:25.19.

Also competing in the evening session was rising sophomore Hannah Riordan. The Cornwall, Ontario, product qualified for the consolation finals of the 50 free and took 12th in a time of 25.68.
