    Dantin Qualifies For USA Diving Nationals

    AUBURN, Ala. - Rising junior diver Vennie Dantin had a successful weekend at the 2010 USA Diving National Zone B Preliminary held on the campus of Florida State University. With her performance at the meet, Dantin qualified for the USA Diving Nationals in all three diving events.

    Dantin opened the weekend with a fifth-place on the one-meter springboard Friday. Her score of 275.45 qualified her in the event for the national meet. The Conroe, Texas, product followed with a fourth-place finish on the three-meter springboard with a score of 267.35 Saturday. Dantin qualified for the platform event prior to the weekend's meet.

    "Vennie was very steady throughout the weekend and I'm very proud of her," head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "She has worked hard during her two years at Auburn and it is rewarding to see her hard work pay off. This is a big step in her career to able to dive in the springboard events at the national meet."

    Dantin is the 2010 Southeastern Conference champion on the three- meter springboard and a finalist on the one-meter and platform. She earned three All-America honors at the 2010 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, including a sixth-place finish on the platform.

    The USA Diving Nationals will be held August 10-15 on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
