Auburn's NCAA champion men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be honored with a celebration at Toomer's Corner Tuesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to join the teams as they celebrates their titles with the traditional rolling of Toomer's Corner.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams and coaching staff will be on hand, as will the Auburn pep band, cheerleaders, Tiger Paws and Aubie.
The men won their fifth straight NCAA title and seventh overall March 15-17 in Minneapolis. Auburn rolled up 566 points to easily outdistance runner-up Stanford by 169 points. The Tigers set five NCAA records during the meet and accumulated 64 All-American honors. Cesar Cielo was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year after winning the 50 free, the 100 free and swimming on three other first-place relays teams, while Steven Segerlin was named NCAA Diver of the Year after winning the 3-meter and platform competitions and placing third on the 1-meter board.
The women won their second straight national championship and fifth in the last six years March 8-10 in Minneapolis. Auburn scored 535 points to outdistance runner-up Arizona, which was second with 477 points.
All 19 members of the Auburn squad that competed at the NCAA meet earned at least one All-American honor. Four Tigers won individual championships, including Adrienne Binder in the 500 free, Hayley Peirsol in the 1650 free, Rachel Goh in the 100 back and Ava Ohlgren in the 400 IM.
