AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn swimming and diving team spent the entire dual season focused on turning in its best time of the years at the SEC Championships. Starting Tuesday, the Tigers hit the pool with that objective in mind in search of bringing an SEC title back to the Plains.

The Tigers will be a part of the SEC's 10 men's teams and 12 women's teams that compete in the five-day format Tuesday-Saturday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. Prelims begin each day 10 a.m. ET and finals will start at 6 p.m. ET each night.

"We decided this year to put a meet between the Florida meet and the SEC Championships. It really gave us a chance to hone our skills and it gave our team a lot of confidence coming off Florida and it definitely gave us a chance to improve on our swims. The last few weeks' confidence has been high and the focus has been great, which is a good thing," Auburn head coach Brett Hawke said.

Live results for swimming can be found on GeorgiaDogs.com while diving results will be available on Divemeets.com. Fans can watch the finals on GeorgiaDogs.com for the meet's first three days. Friday and Saturday night's finals will be streamed on ESPN3.com. This meet marks this second straight season the SEC will use the expanded five-day format.

Auburn's men look to reclaim the SEC crown after having its run of 16 straight league titles snapped by Florida at last year's meet in College Station, Texas. Auburn's roster has six members on its roster that have won an individual or relay SEC title, including five seniors.

"We've got a great senior class on the men's side so anytime our seniors are up in a race it's exciting to watch. James Disney-May is swimming the backstroke for us this year, Marcelo Chierighini in the sprint freestyle and Zane Grothe in the middle distance races, plus TJ Leon in some sprint events and relays. You can't forget about John Santeiu on the boards for us. I'm really looking forward to watching the seniors perform."

On the women's side, Auburn looks to improve on its fifth-place finish from a year ago. The Tigers will go up against tough competition in field that is full of depth, but look to return to the top of podium after having its 21-year streak of winning at least one event snapped a year ago.

"We've gotten great leadership from Emily Bos and Aubrey Peacock. I think there is a lot of buzz around some of our young swimmers in their first SEC Championships. The way they come together as a team is what I'm excited to see."

"Overall, the SEC is getting deeper. Tennessee is a team that's emerging and Florida and Georgia are always there. You can see depth emerging because every team is getting a couple of swimmers that are really good. I think it's going to be a very competitive meet. Missouri and Texas A&M are two of the toughest teams in the country, so there really isn't a front runner going into the meet."
