    No. 5/8 Auburn Travels To Florida For Tough Road Dual

    AUBURN, Ala. - The nationally-ranked Auburn men and women's swimming and diving team heads to Gainesville to face SEC rival Florida in a big conference match-up Friday at 3 p.m. CST.

    "We have been looking forward to this meet as it is our final big dual of the year," head coach Brett Hawke said. "Florida has become one of our main SEC rivals and it will always be tough to come down to Gainesville to race. They are a great team, but we are looking to finish this dual meet strong."

    LAST MEETING
    The two conference rivals faced off on Jan. 24, 2009, at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center, seeing the teams split the meet. The Auburn men came away with the 166-132 victory, while the women fell to the Gators, 169-114.

    Former Auburn athlete Matt Targett led the way for the Tigers, capturing three individual titles. He opened with a win in the 200 free and followed with wins in the 50 and 100 free events.

    Ava Ohlgren finished with two individual wins for the women. She opened with a win in the 200 fly and closed out the meet with a win in the 200 IM. Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace picked up a win in the 50 free, while Micah Lawrence captured first in the 200 breast.

    FLORIDA GATORS
    The Florida men hold a 7-0 mark in dual competition, while the women are 8-2 on the year. The Gators are coming off wins for both the men and women against Florida Atlantic on Jan. 16. The No. 6 Gator men defeated the Owls, 159-118, while the No. 7 women won 163-122.

    AUBURN IN THE POLLS
    In the latest CSCAA poll, the Auburn men (4-1, 3-0 SEC) sit at No. 5, while the women (3-3, 2-1 SEC) are currently the eighth-ranked team in the country.

    Texas continues to be the top-ranked team on the men's side, followed by Stanford, Arizona and California. Other SEC schools in the men's poll are Florida (No. 6), Tennessee (No. 11), Georgia (No. 12) and Kentucky (No. 21).

    The Georgia women head the women's poll, while Arizona, Texas, Stanford and California closing out the top five. Other SEC schools in the poll are Florida (No. 7), Tennessee (No. 12), Arkansas (No. 19) and LSU (No. 24).

    SEC WEEKLY HONORS
    The Auburn swimming and diving team has had five student athletes honored by the Southeastern Conference. Most recently, junior Adam Brown and sophomore Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace were named SEC Male and Female Swimmers of the Week on Jan. 12.

    UP NEXT
    The Tigers close out the regular season with a dual meet against Emory at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. Auburn will pay tribute to its 13 seniors prior to the meet.
