Bricker Wins 3-Meter at Georgia Diving Invitational

ATHENS, Ga.  - Auburn's Matt Bricker scored a 597.35 to place first on the 3-meter during day two of the Georgia Diving Invitational held at the Gabrielson Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 3. AU's Ashley Rubenstein also had an impressive day for the Tigers, placing second in the women's 1-meter.

Bricker was in third place heading into the evening finals before winning the championship. Teammate Caesar Garcia placed seventh with a score of 502.60 while Chris Millican was 31st. with a 155.50.

On the women's side, Rubenstein scored a 541.40 to place second to Alabama's Lane Bassham (555.10). AU's Kelsey Patterson was 18th with a score of 227.70 while Rachel Korth was 24th (217.70). Rubenstein also placed fifth in the women's 1-meter shootout.

In what could be considered a preview to the Southeastern Conference championships, which will be hosted by Auburn, eight of the nine conference school that sponsor swimming and diving are participating in the invitational, and 11 of the top 12 finishers on the women's 1-meter and 10 of the top 12 divers on the men's 3-meter were SEC divers.

The competition will close out on Sunday with the platform competition, which begins at 11 a.m. ET.
