KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Auburn senior diver Vennie Dantin advanced to her third championship final in three events, earning a third top-10 finish in the 3-meter springboard event at the 2012 USA Diving Winter National Championships on Wednesday.

"I'm really proud of (Vennie's) performance, not just today but throughout the entire meet," Auburn diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "She was the only female that competed in all three individual events and finaled in all three. That's a great accomplishment and well-done on her part."

Dantin, a native of Conroe, Texas, posted a three-list (15 dives) score of 903.85 to finish in eighth place in the 12-person final. She remained in eighth place after qualifying in the same position in the semifinals with a score of 605.95; as in the platform final, the scores carried over through all three rounds.

Fellow senior Anna Aguero finished 17th overall with a score of 539.60; she moved up one spot after qualifying 18th in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.

In the men's platform quarterfinal, sophomore John Santeiu advanced to the semifinals with a 16th-place finish, scoring a 327.80 on his six-dive list. Freshman Michael Beran also competed, finishing 25th with a score of 269.75.

"(John and Mike) have done some really good stuff here, we've just got to work on being a little more consistent and cleaning up the finishes of their dives," Shaffer said. "Overall, a really strong showing for Auburn diving. After tomorrow, we're looking forward to having a few days off and regrouping to get ready for the championship part of our season when we come back after Christmas."

Santeiu will compete in the men's platform semifinals Thursday; the event is set for a 10 a.m. start at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee. Live scoring and live video are available through DiveMeets.com.
