NCAA Zone B Diving Concludes Wednesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The NCAA Zone B Diving meet wrapped up Wednesday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center with platform diving, and the five men's and 10 women's selections to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships were finalized.
In Wednesday's platform event, four of five Auburn men's competitors advanced to the final. Sophomore Michael Beran led the way with a fourth-place finish, scoring a 12-dive total of 679.90, and sophomore Fraser McKean was fifth with a 664.40. A pair of freshmen also made the final with Andrew Laing scoring 622.00 to finish ninth and Justin Youtsey taking 12th place with a 568.60.
Junior John Santeiu, who secured his spot in the NCAA Championships by winning the 3-meter event Tuesday, performed a simpler, low-scoring list of dives and did not qualify for the final.
On the women's side, sophomore Cinzia Calabretta led the way for Auburn with an eighth-place finish in the platform final, scoring 472.30 over 10 dives. Sophomore Shanna Schuelein placed 14th in the preliminaries with a score of 218.65 on her five-dive list, freshman Carly Scheper was 16th with a 217.10, and freshman Morgan Mullins was 19th with a 204.60.
The NCAA Women's Championships run March 21-23 and the NCAA Men's Championships are set for March 28-30, with both meets taking place at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI in Indianapolis. Auburn's women will have 14 swimmers competing at the meet, and the full list of men's qualifiers will be announced later Wednesday.
