Six Auburn Divers Advance to Finals on Second Day of Georgia Diving Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – Six Auburn divers advanced to finals on the second day of the Georgia Diving Invitational on Saturday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.

On the men’s side, Junior Fraser McKean was the top finisher for Auburn on the 1-meter springboard with a season-best score of 370.65, taking third. McKean qualified second for the 12-diver final in the prelims with 364.20.

Senior John Santeiu IV posted a fourth-place finish in Saturday’s final with a 360.55 on the 1-meter, seven points better than his prelim score of 353.35. Santeiu joins McKean as the pair of Tigers in Saturday night’s knockout competition.

Sophomore Justin Youtsey posted an 11th-place finish with 315.25 points to round out Auburn’s trio of divers in the 1-meter final. Youtsey qualified seven during Saturday morning’s prelim round, recording a 316.30 to earn a spot in the final. Junior Michael Beran finished 15th with 277.85 points.

Three Auburn women advanced to the 12-diver final on the 3-meter springboard. Junior Cinzia Calabretta was the top finisher for the Tigers for the second straight day, placing sixth with a 293.55. Calabretta will represent the Tigers in Saturday night’s knockout competition on the 3-meter board.

Junior Shanna Schuelein qualified sixth during Saturday’s prelims with a score of 294.05, the highest mark for the Tigers to begin the day. She finished eighth in the 3-meter final with 282.10.

Sophomore Morgan Mullins qualified in the final spot to earn her way into the final with a score of 271.65. Mullins finished 11th overall with a 269.35 in Saturday’s final. Sophomore Carly Scheper placed 17th with a 255.00.

The Tigers wrap up the competition tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT with the men’s platform final. The women also conclude the three-day meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT with a one-list platform final.
