Assistant coach Cathy Sursi begins her third year working with the Auburn swimming team but her first as a fulltime member of the coaching staff, being promoted to assistant coach after two years as a gradaute assistant. Part of Sursi's new responsibilities will include assisting both the men's and women's teams in recruiting while also handling administrative duties.
A four-year letter winner for the Tigers and a former captain, Sursi, who graduated in 2000 with a degree in communications, earned All-America honors in the 400 IM twice and the 200 breaststroke once during her time as a swimmer on the Plains. "When she was swimming here I had a hunch that someday she would be a coach," Auburn Head Coach David Marsh said. "She has all the communication skills and the athletic curiosity that is the foundation of many great coaches.
" After working in Atlanta for two years, Sursi returned to her alma mater to pursue her Masters in Health Promotion and work with the swimming team. Sursi's primary responsibilities with the swimming team include coaching, recruiting, issuing equipment and video analysis.
