Student Internships

The Auburn Athletics Department offers many opportunities for students to obtain experience working in college athletics. Below are the job descriptions and requirements for employment. If you have any questions, contact feedback@auburn.edu.

Administration (+)

  • Positions Available: 6-8 students
  • Rate of Pay: Minimum wage
  • Position Description: The position is for current Auburn students and includes reception work such as greeting visitors, taking messages, managing the reception area and other duties as assigned. Students assist in providing customer service and clerical support for the Athletics Department.
  • Commitment: Athletics Department prefers to have students retain employment for multiple years.
  • Deadline: Hire as needed throughout the year, typically at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester.

Event Management (+)
  • Position: Auburn Athletics TEAM (Tiger Engagement Assistance Member)
  • Position Description: AU TEAM members must be available to work all home football games at Jordan-Hare Stadium this Fall. The TEAM member is responsible for providing a positive environment for each fan they encounter at all athletic events. They will play a monumental role in fan engagement and will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to all fans.

    Applicants must be personable, reliable and have great communication skills. Due to access to unfrequented areas in both Jordan-Hare Stadium and Auburn Arena, all applicants must also have high levels of integrity and professionalism.

    This position is a 9 month paid commitment.
  • Qualifications:
    • Available to work all home Auburn football games
    • Available to work multiple Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball and Gymnastics events
    • Has a positive, up-beat attitude
    • Has excellent communication and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work in a high intensity environment
    • Ability to work with others, as well as independently

    MARKETING & PROMOTIONS INTERNSHIP

Special Events (+)

    Special Events Internship

  • Students Employed Annually: Two per semester.
  • Position Description: Assist with administrative office work pertaining to the essential function of the Athletics Special Events Office including but not limited to monthly reports, internal department communication. Assist with event preparation for events including but not limited to; making nametags, assisting with d├ęcor, set-up and breakdown, organizing guest lists, client correspondence. Assist with hosting special events hosted by the Athletics Dept. Includes nights, weekends, and gamedays. Daily job duties may vary
  • Pay Rate: Unpaid.
  • Requirements:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to tolerate variable weather conditions
    • Must be able to withstand environments with loud crowd noise
    • Must be able to work 10-20 hours a week
    • Must be able to work during all Auburn Athletics home athletic games
    • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
    • Must have working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as basic audio-visual knowledge
  • Commitment: One semester

    Event Crew

  • Position Description: Assist with event set up and breakdown for special events. Assist with other duties pertaining to the Office of Special Events event preparation as assigned, including but not limited to; greeting guests, inventory. Daily job duties may vary.
  • Pay Rate: $8/hour
  • Requirements:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be able to tolerate variable weather conditions
    • Must be able to withstand environments with loud crowd noise
    • Must be able to work 10-20 hours a week
    • Must be able to work during all Auburn Athletics home athletic games
    • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
    • Must have working knowledge of the following Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as basic audio-visual knowledge
  • Commitment: One semester

Strategic Communications (+)

Tickets (+)
  • Position Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Ticket Operations, these student positions assist in the sales and distribution of Auburn Athletic Tickets. These positions require some work on nights and weekends at ticketed sporting events (Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Baseball, and Softball). There may be additional opportunities to work office hours during the week (8am-5pm M-F). These positions are for currently enrolled Auburn Students only. Work-study availability is preferred, but not required. Students will be given the opportunity to continue working the next academic year based on performance.

Tigers Unlimited (+)
  • Students Employed Annually: 4-5
  • Position Description: The Tigers Unlimited Foundation is the fundraising arm for the Auburn Athletics Department. Students assist in customer service for strong donor relations and with events supported by Tigers Unlimited.
  • Pay Rate: Minimum wage
  • Requirements: 10-15 office hours per week.
  • Commitment: Tigers Unlimited prefers to have students retain employment for multiple years.

WAR EAGLE PRODUCTIONS (+)
  • Students Employed Annually: 40-50
  • Position Description: Applicants will assist in live and post video production of Auburn Athletics events. Student interns will assist in video board and television production serving as camera operators, replay operators, graphics production, audio and engineering, and lighting for events on ESPN3 / SEC Network Digital Network. Students also shoot event for highlights and creative features as well as on-demand video for Auburn Athletics television shows and content for AuburnTigers.com.
  • Pay Rate: Students are for working events. Rates vary based on position on the production crew.
  • Date to Apply: Applications accepted at any time. Hiring typically takes place over the summer monts.

On-Campus Student Employment Guidelines

Student Eligibility
Individuals meeting the following requirements are eligible for student employment:
  1. Enrolled in one or more semester hours at Auburn University
  2. Not enrolled for the current semester but enrolled for the previous semester and the following semester (ex: Student enrolled Spring and Fall but not enrolled Summer)

Recent AU Grads: Students who wish to work on campus in the semester between graduation and the start of a new/graduate degree program must be hired as a TES (Temporary Employment Services) employee. (ex: Student graduates from Auburn University in May, registers for fall classes, and is not enrolled for summer classes, must work as a TES employee in the summer.)

Incoming Students: May begin work on-campus five business days prior to the start of classes. Prior to this time, incoming students who work on-campus must be employed through TES.

International Students: Immediately upon receiving a job offer, international students must go to the Office of International Programs (OIP) to be counseled on their work status. International students hold various types of visas, and to best protect these individuals, OIP will determine if the student is authorized to work. International students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week (.50 FTE) for all jobs combined. (Students are permitted to work up to 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE) for all jobs combined in the summer and during breaks between semesters.)
