Finally, race day! After all the preparation and sitting around waiting we got our chance to hit the competition pool today. Let me start by saying how proud I am of Marcelo and the boys relay team from Brazil. The crowd literally took your breath away when they walked out to race. My heart was pounding with nervous energy, good energy. The crowd roared and chanted "Brazil, Brazil, Brazil!" What an incredible experience. Cameras everywhere and millions watching around the world.
We ended up in 5th place, but Marcelo equaled his best ever swim, leading out the relay in 48.12 seconds. He'll now rest a day and line up again on Tuesday for the men's 100m freestyle.
So for now we enjoy today's experience and try and find an extra 13 100ths of a second to break that elusive 48 second barrier!
3:20am. Signing off!
