Education: Lautz received his bachelor's degree with a double major in political science and criminal justice and a minor in speech and communications from Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, Minn.), where he earned two varsity letters as a goalie on the hockey team. He also has a law degree from the University of Kansas.
Job Responsibilities: Lautz oversees the eligibility certification process for all student-athletes. He is currently the primary compliance contact for men's and women's basketball, soccer, and men's and women's swimming, as well as Student-Athlete Support Services. Lautz assists with rules education and recruiting responsibilities, while also facilitating communication with athlete agents, Auburn sports camps and clinics, and student-athlete complimentary admissions.
Past Experience: Lautz came to Auburn after six years at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where he served most recently as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. He previously worked for the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck, and King, in Overland Park, Kan. As an attorney, Lautz assisted in the representation of more than a dozen colleges and universities in matters of NCAA compliance.
Personal: Lautz is a native of Madison, Wis., and enjoys golf and travel.
