Education: Carter received his master's degree in education – sports management from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011. He received his bachelor's degree in sport management with minors in business administration and communication studies from West Virginia University in 2009.
Job Responsibilities: Carter oversees the day to day operations of the athletics event management department. Under Carter, the athletics events department is responsible for the planning and coordination of Auburn's game day operations across its 19 varsity programs. He also helps to lead the department in postseason tournament planning and implementation, which includes bid submission, budget management, and event staffing. Carter also manages the athletics events budget, full-time and graduate assistant staff hiring/recruitment, and serves as game manager for Men's Basketball.
Past Experience: Carter came to Auburn after serving as the Director of Event Operations at James Madison University, where he oversaw the athletic event management department. In his 4+ years in Harrisonburg, Carter managed facility scheduling, credentialing, postseason bids/tournament planning, and served as game manager for Men's Basketball and Baseball. Before JMU, Carter spent one year as a Coordinator within the University of Maryland's Athletic Facilities, Operations, & Events department. In College Park, Carter oversaw their large in-house game day event staff and served as game manager for Field Hockey, Baseball, and Tennis.
At Texas, Carter served as a graduate assistant within the Athletics Facilities & Event Operations department assisting in game day operations at Football and Track & Field meets, including the Texas Relays. Carter also served as Coordinator for the UT Athletics Customer Relations Program. During his time at West Virginia, Carter spent two years as the Head Student Manager for the WVU Baseball program.
Personal: Carter hails from Virginia Beach, Va. Carter also serves as the Chair of the Collegiate Athletics Operations Services (CAOS) Steering Committee for the 2017 conference. In years past, Carter has served in other volunteer roles ranging from Vice Chair (2016) to Logistics Coordinator (2015) to Programming Committee Member (2014).
