Began at Auburn: 1992

Education: Flynn received her bachelor's degree in Botany from Auburn University in 1980. She received her Master of Science (1986) and Doctor of Philosophy (1992) degrees in marine sciences (with a focus on Wetland Ecology) from LSU.

Past Experience: Flynn joined the faculty at Auburn in 1992, first with a joint Alabama Cooperative Extension Specialist and faculty assignment in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. In 2001 she took study leave and worked for The Nature Conservancy in Birmingham Alabama, serving as Director of Conservation Programs for Alabama. She returned to Auburn in late 200. She served as Secretary (2006) and Chair (2009) of the University Senate. In 2010 she was named Director of both the Interdisciplinary Studies Undergraduate degree program and the Academic Counseling and Advising Center (Cater Center).

Personal: A native of Birmingham, Ala., Flynn is married to David. They have one daughter, Mary Dawson.
