AUBURN - Scott Carr, who has spent the previous eight years as an administrator in the University of Southern Mississippi Athletics Department, has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs at Auburn, announced Athletics Director Jay Jacobs Tuesday. Since 2006, Carr served as the Deputy Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Southern Miss.
"We're excited to have someone with Scott's broad range of experience join our department," Jacobs said. "He has a tremendous amount of expertise that will help us continue to improve as a department, and we are pleased to have him join the Auburn Family."
In his most recent role with the Golden Eagles program, Carr oversaw the external affairs of the athletics department as well as serving as the sport administrator for baseball. He had direct supervision of the marketing and promotions department, ticket operations, media relations, broadcasting, community relations and the athletic department's licensing program.
Carr worked closely with the Eagle Club, assisting in the development of the USM department's annual giving efforts, while also serving as the department's liaison with corporate sales (ISP) and the Hattiesburg community.
During Carr's eight years at Southern Miss, the athletic department underwent over $55 million in facility construction projects including a $32 million south end zone expansion that included the addition of suites and club level seating.

During his tenure at Southern Miss, he also served as the Associate Director of Athletics, External Affairs (2003-06); Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs (2002); Assistant Director of Athletics, Facilities and Event Management (2001-2002).
Before joining Southern Miss, Carr served in various capacities with the FedEx Orange Bowl from 1997-2001 and was a graduate assistant equipment manager at the University of Florida from 1995-97.
A 1995 graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in business management, Carr also received his master's degree in sport management from Florida, in 1997.
Carr is married to the former Pam Snowe, and they have two daughters, Ashton and Katie.
