||Agents & Financial Advisors
The policy of the department of athletics requires agents and financial advisors to refrain from personal contact with Auburn University student-athletes and their family or friends until their eligibility is exhausted. Our student-athletes are educated each year on the proper procedures if contacted by an agent, financial advisor or representative. Any information that you would like to provide for the student-athlete may be mailed to the attention of Steve Lautz, Assistant Athletics Director, and it will be forwarded and reviewed with each student-athlete.
The department of athletics at Auburn University has developed an agent education program for future professional athletes under the direction of a professional sports counseling panel. This panel was established in accordance with the NCAA Constitution and is composed of specialist in sports law, financial planning and career counseling. This panel will advise and counsel our student-athletes on a continuing basis in order to assist them with the proper selection of an agent and/or financial advisor.
The administration and coaches at Auburn are well aware of the fact that the majority of those engaged in representing professional athletes provide valuable services to their clients. However, due to the increasing number of problems involving agents and their intermediaries that have taken place throughout our country over the past few years; we have decided to take a pro-active stance. Our policies have been developed to provide a means by which we can protect our student-athlete and our institution from those who would conduct themselves in a less than ethical manner.
The department of athletics has no intention of creating barriers between our student-athletes and those who can provide valuable services to them. But in order to allow our student-athletes to focus upon their academic and athletic pursuits as they complete their careers with our athletics program, we stipulate that both our student-athletes and those who desire to represent them adhere to the policies.
State law requires all prospective agents register with the State of Alabama through the Alabama Athlete Agents Commission. If you have not already registered with the state as an Athlete Agent, please contact:
